Floral Sashes for Graduates

Graduation is a meaningful milestone, and these custom floral sashes were created to make a middle school celebration feel even more memorable. A customer shared several Pinterest inspiration photos with me, and I used those ideas as a starting point while designing each sash with materials available at Orchid Boutique.

Each piece was handcrafted with soft satin ribbon, faux orchids, faux hydrangeas, roses, pearls, decorative trim, and delicate floral accents. I experimented with different combinations of white, blush pink, bright fuchsia, burgundy, and ivory to see which colors and textures worked best together. Some designs were soft and romantic, while others featured bolder pink orchids for a brighter, more playful look.

Because I did not have the graduates present for measurements, I placed each sash around myself to estimate the proper length and flower placement. At approximately 5'3", I used my own proportions as a guide, making adjustments so the flowers would frame the front of the sash without becoming too heavy or overwhelming.

Pearl strands and satin ribbon added an elegant finish, while soft white feathers at the ends gave the sashes a frilly, fun quality that felt appropriate for young graduates. The entire process involved arranging, testing, removing, and repositioning flowers until each sash had the right balance of color, detail, and movement.

These first designs became a beautiful collection of wearable floral pieces that could also be saved as graduation keepsakes. Custom graduation sashes are priced at $125 per style, with colors and floral details personalized according to availability and the customer’s chosen theme.
