Growing up in San Gabriel, I went to high school dances and remembered the beautiful corsages with tiny dangling pearls, long ribbons, the beautiful roses around my wrist. I’d come home and let the corsage dry and left it on my dresser for years and accumulated a museum of dried wonderful memories. Then the later trend were Hong Kong paper wrapping bouquets. My girlfriends would all receive some sort of arrangement from their boyfriends but I never received one, or maybe I did but don’t have any photos to store into my memory bank.
Working at Orchid Boutique, I get to relive those times and recreate them and make them my own. But with the power of my creativity and colors it is in my creative power to bring it to our store.
Our store has gone through so many transformation to refine it to be a enchanting space where people can look at the latest designs. Today I present to you our Korean Paper Wrapping Bouquets. When I first saw the paper and dabbled with it, it was challenging because my hands are small and the slippery surface of the paper just slipped out of my hands. I tried all methods of invisible tape, twine, rubber band, and more. Hours, days, weeks, months, spent in the solitude of the early hours before the store opened at 11am to practice the craft. The same was with the orchid arrangements. Months studying how orchids thrive and ways to care for them.
