Orchids on Legs

Every custom orchid arrangement begins with a few choices, but the final design often reveals itself during the creative process.

For this arrangement, our customer requested a black pot and selected a large white Phalaenopsis orchid with beautiful pink speckled blooms. I chose a modern black planter with wooden legs, which gave the arrangement a clean, contemporary foundation while adding warmth through the natural wood.

The customer initially chose one small cluster of white Phalaenopsis orchids for the side. As I began arranging the flowers, I realized the design needed more balance. I added a second white orchid cluster on the opposite side, allowing the flowers to flare outward like wings.

That small change transformed the entire arrangement. The tall pink-spotted orchids became the dramatic focal point, while the smaller white orchids softened the design and created graceful movement on both sides.

This is one of the things I enjoy most about designing orchid arrangements. Sometimes the final composition is not completely planned in advance. It develops as I work with the shape of the pot, the direction of the orchid stems, and the natural personality of each plant.

Orchid fertilizer was also included to support healthy growth and help the plants continue thriving.

Every detail is thoughtfully considered, including the parts of the arrangement that cannot be seen. The goal is not only to create something beautiful for the moment, but also to support the orchids as living plants.

The result is an elegant, balanced arrangement that feels modern, expressive, and completely one of a kind.
